OVERNIGHT CAMP - A LIFECHANGING EXPERIENCE

We believe that summer camp is one of the most important and formative experiences in a child's life, as it develops their sense of independence and nurtures their relationship with peers, role models, and the environment. At Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, we strive to weave valuable, intellectual, and moral lessons into all of the exciting program activities we offer in order to nourish the mind, body, and spirit of your child during their entire experience with us. As your child gets older, our camp programs evolve to suit their new capabilities and guide them on their journey as a leader. Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is a place for ALL children and young adults. Our staff, programming, and financial assistance make camp available to any child that desires a place to have fun and grow. Please explore the variety of programs we offer and do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions about the unique and deeply important camp experience that is waiting for your child at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.

4-Day Resident Camp

The luckiest campers are those who get started early. We have designed our program to introduce campers at a young age to the magical experience of camp.  We offer a four-day, three-night introductory experience for campers ages 7-9 who are new to overnight camp, but are ready to take a leap towards independence. A four-day camper has the opportunity to develop confidence, social skills, and critical thinking skills while participating in their specialty area, choice activities, and cabin times. While it may seem daunting to send your 7 year old to overnight camp, we believe that providing exciting outdoor experiences, and developmentally appropriate challenges are important factors in building character. Now, more than ever, it is important that young kids enjoy time unplugged in the outdoors and connecting with peers in authentic and meaningful ways. Providing your child with the opportunity to fall in love with camp at a young age is one of the greatest gifts you could ever give them. We look forward to serving your young child this summer, and hopefully for years to come, at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya.

Tiered Price Per Week

We understand that our camp families have differing abilities to pay, so we offer a tiered pricing system to better accommodate all financial situations. Your choice does not influence the quality of the camp experience that your child will receive.
Tier A: $630
Tier B: $585
Tier C: $538

What is Tiered Pricing?

This pricing option is available to anyone. We offer three pricing levels to better accommodate all financial needs. Please consider selecting the highest tier that your family can afford in order to allow YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya to continue to ensure the quality of every camper's experience. The price you select does not impact your camper's experience in any way.
  • Tier A: Most accurately reflects the true and actual cost of camp.
  • Tier B: A partially subsidized rate, but more closely reflects the actual cost of camp.
  • Tier C: Our historically standard rate which does not represent the true cost of camp. This rate is subsidized by the YMCA through fundraising, special events, and contributions.

Specialty Areas

What is a Specialty Area?

We offer six Specialty Areas specifically designed to provide campers with a healthy physical and mental challenges, teach them new skills, and connect them with counselors and campers outside their cabin group. Each morning, resident overnight campers at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya participate in their chosen Specialty Area. As campers progress through their program, they track their knowledge and reach checkpoints along the way in order to foster a sense of accomplishment as they earn patches that acknowledge their effort and growth. Once a camper has reached the highest level in one specialty area, we encourage them to choose a new one the following summer so that they continue to expand, grow, and learn new skills each year at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya. Returning campers can push themselves to collect all of our program patches!

Arts, Crafts, Creativity and Drama – Creativity and critical thinking skills are crucial to the healthy development of today's youth. In the "ACDC" specialty area campers will create, design, explore, build, act, sing, and express. They will be guided by passionately artistic staff yet encouraged to freely express their own inner artist and/or engineer. This area combines nature education with hands on creative arts and building opportunities. Campers with a desire to get their hands dirty and let their imaginations run wild will thrive in this area.

Marksmanship – The marksmanship experience teaches campers how to safely participate in archery, riflery (BB guns for ages 7 and up, .22's for ages 9 and up*), slingshots and atlatls. We focus on the fundamentals of marksmanship which heavily emphasize the safe and ethical use of shooting sports equipment. With each bullseye earned, your child will gain confidence that will help them take on other challenging activities both at camp and at home.

*.22's may only be used with the permission of the parent, if you would like your child to participate please complete the permission form when registering.

Watercraft – A watercraft experience allows campers to explore one of U-Nah-Li-Ya's most popular attractions! Your child will call the U-Nah-Li-Ya bay of Chute Pond home as they take on the water in kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards! Campers will discover the lake and it's wildlife while practicing proper boating techniques and etiquette. They will expand their watercraft knowledge as they push themselves to explore new modes of water transportation. Communication, confidence, and a great tan await campers in the watercraft specialty area. Be sure to pack your sunscreen!

Survival Skills – This survival skills experience focuses on mastering the forces of nature to survive and thrive in the great outdoors. Campers learn skills in camp craft, fire building, fishing, food gathering, water purification and other survival techniques used by US Special Forces and avid adventurers. As campers explore the U-Nah-Li-Ya woodlands and connect with their inner Bear Grylls, they will be inspired to protect and preserve the natural world around us. Hands on learning experiences, and one of a kind adventures are calling your camper!

Adventure Sports – The adventure and sports experience provides campers with a taste of outdoor adventure and excitement. Your child will develop their sense of healthy, kind competition as well as challenging them to work as a team and encourage the success of others. The week is spent learning to rock climb, fat tire bike, orienteer and lake kayak. Campers will also be able to develop their team work skills through more traditional sport activities like soccer, volleyball, basketball, and kickball. Your future adventurer will thrive as they connect with a wide variety of active, and engaging outdoor sports.

Fishing- This is the perfect specialty area for those kids who love the thrill and challenge of hooking Wisconsin’s freshwater sport fish. From shore and watercraft, campers in the Fishing specialty area will learn in-depth tactics for catching pan fish, bass and northern pike. This specialty area gives each camper extended opportunities to fish and maximizes their quality time with our counselor role models.

Tips for Registering

During registration, please select your camper’s main interest as their Specialty Area. Registration is first come, first served. If you do not see your camper’s first choice during registration, that means that area is full. Please choose your camper’s top choice from the remaining available Specialty Areas.
